The EKI-1511 Series focus on the entry level device server market, providing an economic solution that is designed to connect RS-232 or RS-422/485 serial devices such as PLC, meters, sensors, and barcode readers to an IP-based Ethernet LAN. This allows nearly any device with a serial port to connect and share an Ethernet network, while also providing various operations such as COM port redirection (Virtual COMport), TCP server, TCP client, and UDP mode. With COM port redirection mode, standard serial operation calls are transparently redirected to the servers, guaranteeing compatibility with legacy serial devices and enabling backward-compatibility with existing software. With TCP server, TCP client, and UDP modes, the EKI-1511 Series ensure compatibility in network software using a standard network API. Serial devices can communicate with other devices via peer-to-peer, thus eliminating the need for an intermediate host PC and software programming.

EKI-1521, EKI-1522 and EKI-1524 feature two independent Ethernet ports and MAC addresses to provide a redundant network mechanism to guarantee Ethernet network reliability. EKI-1521, EKI-1522 and EKI-1524 are serial device servers that connect RS-232/422/485 serial devices, such as PLC, meters, sensors, and barcode reader to an IP-based Ethernet LAN. They allow nearly any device with serial ports to connect and share an Ethernet network. EKI-1521, EKI-1522 and EKI-1524 provide various operations: COM port redirection (Virtual COMport), TCP Server, TCP Client and UDP mode. With COM port redirection mode, standard serial operation calls are transparently redirected to the EKI-1521, EKI-1522 and EKI-1524, guaranteeing compatibility with legacy serial devices and enabling backward compatibility with existing software. With TCP server, TCP client, and UDP modes, EKI- 1521, EKI-1522 and EKI-1524 ensure the compatibility of network software that uses a standard network API. The EKI-1521I-SC feature one Ethernet port with RJ45 connector and one fiber port with SC connector to provide a redundant network mechanism that guarantees Ethernet network reliability. These serial device servers are designed to connect RS-232/422/485 serial devices such as PLC, meters, sensors, and barcode readers to an IP-based Ethernet LAN. They allow nearly any device with serial ports to connect and share an Ethernet network, while also providing various operations such as COM port redirection (Virtual COMport), TCP server, TCP client, and UDP mode. With COM port redirection mode, standard serial operation calls are transparently redirected to the servers, guaranteeing compatibility with legacy serial devices and enabling backward-compatibility with existing software. With TCP server, TCP client, and UDP modes, the EKI- 1521 ensure compatibility in network software using a standard network API. Moreover, serial devices can be made communicate with other devices via peer-to-peer, thus eliminating the need for an intermediate host PC and software programming.

The EKI-1528 and EKI-1526 feature two independent Ethernet ports and MAC addresses to provide a redundant network mechanism to guarantee Ethernet network reliability. The EKI-1528I and EKI-1528CI feature two independent Ethernet ports and MAC addresses to provide a redundant network mechanism to guarantee Ethernet network reliability. The EKI-1528I and EKI-1528CI are serial device servers that connect RS-232/422/485 serial devices, such as PLC, meters, sensors, and barcode reader to an IP-based Ethernet LAN. They allow nearly any device with serial ports to connect and share an Ethernet network. The EKI-1528I and EKI-1528CI provide various operations: COM port redirection (Virtual COMport), TCP Server, TCP Client and UDP mode. With COM port redirection mode, standard serial operation calls are transparently redirected to the EKI-1528I and EKI-1528CI, guaranteeing compatibility with legacy serial devices and enabling backward compatibility with existing software. With TCP server, TCP client, and UDP modes, EKI-1528I and EKI-1528CI ensure the compatibility of network software that uses a standard network API. Moreover, you can make serial devices communicate with other devices peer-to-peer, without any intermediate host PCs and software programming.

ADAM-4571 and ADAM-4571L are fast and cost effective data gateways between serial and Ethernet interfaces. The units also bring the advantages of remote management and data accessibility to RS-232/422/485 devices. The transmission speed of the units is up to 230 kbps, meeting the demands for high-speed data exchanges. In addition, you can use Windows utility to configure ADAM-4571 and ADAM-4571L without further programming. The units not only protect your current hardware investment but also ensure future network expandability. Since the protocol conversion is transparent, all your existing devices can be seamlessly integrated with an Ethernet network. Therefore, ADAM-4571 and ADAM-4571Lcan be used in security systems, factory automation, SCADA, transportation and more. ADAM-4571 and ADAM4571L link both your existing human-machine interface(HMI) PC and your RS-232/422/485 devices with Ethernet cables.ADAM-4571 and ADAM-4571L come with a Windows configuration and port-mapping utility. The configuration tool can auto-detect all Ethernet Data Gateway devices on the local network, and let you adjust all settings. The port mapping utility helps you to setup up COM ports for Windows NT/2000/XP platform. This helps you configure all ports to meet your needs.

The ADAM-4571L provides a robust and cost effective way to network-enable equipment in an industrial automation environment. It also brings the advantages of remote management and data accessibility to RS-232 devices. The transmission speed of the ADAM-4571L is up to 921.6 Kbps, meeting the demands for high-speed data exchanges. By encapsulating serial data and transporting it over Ethernet, the ADAM-4571L allows virtual serial links over TCP/IP networks. After Advantech Serial Device Server Configuration Utility installation, standard serial operation calls are transparently redirected to the serial device server, guaranteeing compatibility with legacy serial devices and enabling backward compatibility with existing software. The ADAM-4571L comes with a Windows configuration utility. The configuration tool can auto-detect all serial device servers on the local network, and let you adjust all settings. The configuration utility merges the port mapping function to helps you to setup Virtual COM ports for Windows 2000/XP/Vista(x86) platform. This helps you configure all ports to meet your needs.

An external power source is required (not included, sold separately). Connect a serial device to the ESRx’s serial port and connect the ESRx to your LAN. Your networked computer ‘sees’ the device over the network as a virtual serial connection. ESRx serial servers support TCP or UDP protocols and allow transmit-to and receive-from multiple IP addresses. There are four methods of configuration: Vlinx Management Software, Web Server, Telnet, or a direct RS-232 console connection using a terminal program. Operation(See operating manual for more details.) ESRx serial servers can be accessed and configured from any web browser (ie, Internet Explorer) on the LAN/WAN allowing you to remotely manage the software and your serial device and do off-site troubleshooting. Vlinx ESRx Serial Servers provide automatic resumption of the TCP data connection in case of a power failure or loss of an Ethernet connection on either the client or server. Once the Heartbeat connection is established, the server sends a signal to the client every five seconds until communication is re-established. Without this feature, a device that loses a connection and stops communicating would not be able to reconnect without a person physically attending to the problem. The Heartbeat feature works with virtual COM and TCP direct IP connections. Vlinx Manager Software allows easy access to the serial server to configure the server and its ports, upgrade firmware and monitor port status and activity. When the Vlinx Manager opens, it will search for and display all serial servers on the network. The Monitor Port feature allows you to use any PC on the LAN/WAN to actively view and troubleshoot the communications status. It shows when there is a client connection to the server and the client IP address. It displays the number of bytes transmitted and received, as well as the status of the hardware handshaking lines.
