APC-C30 - very short desktop case

This case is a desktop case without rack mount hardware, but with feet.   zmx
It is a little smaller than the normal 4U rackmount case. Lian Li.

Many enclosures limit builders to certain components where as the PC-C30 allows them to use whatever they need to fit their demands.

The PC-C30 is an excellent case for media centres and enthusiasts who wish to design their own systems with off the shelf parts. The styling and functionality is excellent. The HDD drive retention system, the flawless fit and finish make this case stand out.

Screws:
Power supply and HD:    Four 6-32 UNC screws are required. These have a coarser thread than M3 screws.
Expansion slot cards, floppy disc drives and CD drives require M3 screws. M3 has a finer thread than the UNC 6-32

     "Zippy" and "Enhance" are very good quality makes of power supplies.

Some power supplies have EPS12V connectors (24+8pins) (suitable for dual CPU mainboards) instead of ATX (20+4pins).
An adaptor EPS12V to ATX can be supplied on request for $12+GST, for use with ATX mainboards (20+4pins).       chfb

These power supplies are designed for use in Rackmount cases ... reliability is better, and the leads are longer than with standard power supplies for desktop computers.

IPC-610 19" Chassis, Industrial - 4U - Advantech

19" rack mounting heavy duty steel chassis for Baby-AT, ATX, Mini-ATX main boards, or with 14-slot passive backplane, either ISA Bus or with various PCI bus options.

Field replaceable power supplies. Power good signal available on backplane.
Overcurrent & overvoltage protection. Input 90-132vAC or 180-265vAC switch selectable, 47 to 63HZ.
Operating temp range 0 to 50deg C.

Designed to withstand shock, vibration, dust, and a wide temp. operating range in harsh environment.
'Flat handles' option instead of normal 'loop' handles is available. This gives a smooth front panel.
Anti-shock mounted removable cage for
two 5¼" half height disk drives (both front accessible), and
three 3½" drives, (one front accessible, normally used for floppy drive).
There is room to mount a sixth HD drive inside the case by bolting it onto the side.
Front access is via lockable dustproof hinge-down door. Two fans: one in PS, and one at front with removable air filter.
Positive air pressure is built up inside the chassis. Special hold-down clamp to protect the plug-in cards from vibration. Keyboard connector provided (5-pin DIN) at both front & rear panels. Vibration spec: 5 to 17Hz at 0.2" dble ampl displ; 17 to 200Hz at 1G (peak to peak); 200 to 500Hz at 3G p to p.

Backplane uses 4-layer board with power and ground planes to reduce crosstalk between logic lines, and to lower PS, impedance. Backplane has LED indicators for power rails, and passive AC terminations for bus signals.

Front indicator LEDs for power, HD, & keyboard lock. Switches for Power, Reset, Keybrd lock. 8ohm speaker.
502 mm deep (not incl handles) x 177mm high, 4U x 438mm wide.

Pentium 4 uses 1.7 volts (around 55 W), and also requires a new kind of power supply that ensures the delivery of 10-12 A from the 12V line. Two additional power connectors are provided for plugging into the motherboard. Pentium 4 heat sinks are supposed to be mounted through four holes around the Socket 423 right through to the computer case, thus avoiding any possible damage to the socket or motherboard. This will require new cases in many occasions. Pentium 4 processors that run at 1.6 GHz and more require their heat sinks to be grounded (connected to Vss) to avoid EMI.
