*VESA DDC (VESA Display Data Channel) A VESA standard communications channel between the display adapter and monitor.
The DDC is used to pass Extended Display Identification Data (EDID), which is stored in the monitor and describes its characteristics (vendor name, serial number, frequency range, etc.). DDC requires an additional wire in the cable.
The first level implementation (DDC1) provides a unidirectional channel that lets the monitor inform the host of its capabilities.
A second bi-directional level (DDC2) allows the host to adjust the monitor. For example, the monitor's switch settings could be put into a software control panel.
VESA DPMS (VESA Display Power Management Signaling) A VESA standard for signalling the monitor to switch into energy conservation modes. It provides for two low energy modes: standby and suspend.

ACE-800 Aten USB KVM Console Extender 1600 x 1200

The new ACE-800 USB KVM Extender connects the local and remote unit up to 250 meters via a Cat 5 cable (or higher) as well.
With a built-in USB port on both the local and remote unit, it supports external USB Mass Storage compliant flash drives allowing files to be up-and downloaded easily.

The installation is protected with special CE800 security features.
For uploading USB files, users have to authenticate themselves with their login. Furthermore, the CE800 is audio-enabled supporting both stereo speakers and microphone, and provides built-in 2000 volt surge protection.
With the Adjustable Gain Control function, users are able to manually adjust the signal strength for an optimal transmission across various distances.

The maximum distance between any two USB devices is 5 metres. The UE-100-5 regenerates USB signals for maximum data transfer performance over an additional 5 metres. You can cascade up to 5 x UE-100-5 to give you a total length of 25 metres.

Connecting two 20m Extended distance VGA cables in series, we found the following:
640x480, almost no degradation,
800x600, very little degradation,
1024x768, degraded somewhat, but still readable,
1600x1200, very washed out.                    In all cases there was no sign of ghosting.
