DeMobile: PDA software for the dataTaker data logger - Aug 2005

Users of DeMobile software now have direct access to their dataTaker data loggers for a variety of functions.
Using a BlueTooth™ interface or RS232 the PDA can be used to monitor real time operations,
download data or even program the data logger.
The DeMobile software is available for both the DT800 and the DT500 range.
DT5/6xx range users require DeMobile5
DT800 users require DeMobile8.
The dataTaker DeMobile interface designed is specifically for the Microsoft® Pocket PC2003 and the resolution of the current generation of PDA devices. With touch screen control, check box selection changes, it has tabbed interface for a cleaner look with short cuts for common functions. The intuitive design provides functionally.

DataTaker DeLoad Version 2.00

A new DeLoad Version 2 utility is now available free to download (Dec 2003).
The new program combines the functionality of both smArtUnload and smArtLoad programs.
All users are encouraged to upgrade to the new dataTaker DeLoad Version 2.00.

Utility to securely store your dataTaker data logger command program

Available for DT500 range Series 3 and DT800 dataTaker data loggers
the smArtFlash can save the command program to the logger’s flash ram.
The saved program then runs automatically when you power up or reset the logger.
This enables loggers to be pre-configured before dispatch to nontechnical users
and will also securely restore command programs after a power loss.
The smArtFlash utility enables you to easily select a dataTaker data logger command file via a
graphical user interface, and send it to the Flash RAM in a dataTaker data logger.
SmArtFlash runs on windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP.

MCI Assistant 0.99 beta 2

This was formally known as the card reader manager. Its name was changed to better reflect its use.
A couple of minor changes and bug fixes have also been made. See the release notes for full details

This software replaces the current DOS card reader software.
It works at the full 115200 baud rate that the card reader is capable of on Windows 98/NT/2000/XP.
It will also be integrated into an upcoming version of DeLogger.
Direct support for SRAM PCMCIA (or PC CARD) cards as used in the DT5/6xx series of
dataTaker data loggers within the Windows operating systems has become difficult, as
Microsoft has decided to drop support for these types of cards.
It is possible to use third party drivers on some hardware but this is not a universal solution.
By using the MCI-04 card reader and the new windows based software you can access the
data on these types of memory cards across a much broader range of computers.. Download

LabVIEW driver

The dataTaker LabVIEW instrument driver is available free for download now.
The initial documentation will be brief, as this is currently being developed and is not likely to be complete at the time of the public beta release. However the available documentation and included examples should be adequate to get you up and going to trial the new driver.

Datataker’s Smart Unload

Datataker’s Smart Unload program makes it simple for field operatives to download logged data from a dataTaker data logger.
Simply click an on-screen button and your logged data will be downloaded to a nominated hard disk, network location, email address or internet site (ftp server).
This program is extremely simple to get going. It also has additional facilities that allow the generating of HTML files
which can be sent to a web site.

The utililty runs under Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000 & XP and will work with the DT800, DT50, DT500 range of dataTakers.
This is a great utility program for use by field operatives or non-technical staff. In addition Windows scheduler can
be initiated to regularly run Smart Unload in the background for automated downloading of data.

DTx Terminal - Quick and easy connection program

DTx Terminal program makes for quick and easy connection
to dataTaker data loggers.
It is a lightweight text based terminal program working with RS232 and Ethernet

DataTaker Technical Reference Manual for the DT500 range

This valuable tool contains over 600 pages of reference material covering every aspect of using and programming your dataTaker data logger.

The 3-part manual will also be published on the Web, with each part having sub-sections created in HTML format for convenience. To view the reference manual via the web the user will be required to register their details.

All that is required is to configure the modem at the same baud rate as the data logger and set Xon/Xoff (software) handshaking.

The Mod 7 Cable is a smart solution giving smooth communication even after an unexpected dropping of the connection, where previously reconnecting to the logger had been an issue. The Mod 7 cable eliminates the risk of user error in the setup of the modem and the setup of the logger. Previously if the modem or the logger were not configured correctly problems would arise.

Please Note: The above cable is not suitable for use with the SMSX modem, as it will block the transmission of SMS messages.

Modem Manager MM-01

MM-01 allows automatic dial-out of data & alarms from a remote Datataker, and Pager call-out, etc,
(Modem Manager is not required for calling in to the Datataker.)

• Connects between the dataTaker and its modem at a remote site to provide reliable unattended data logging
• Stores alarms from the dataTaker, then makes regular alarm call-outs to paging service and host computer
• Improves communications reliability in both directions (secure error collection protocol, intelligent dial-out strategies,
  modem switching transient suppression)
• Monitors the dataTaker, the modem and itself for faults (a fault causes the Modem Manager to reset itself and the modem, then make an alarm call-out)

If you use the Modem Manager to send SMS messages, you would have found that Telstra
have changed the Telstra SMS Access Manager, Dial Up service phone number, from 018018767, to 125107.
The Modem Manager works well with the new number, as long as you change the settings.

A GSM modem capable of sending and receiving SMS messages and much more.
When connected to a dataTaker data logger the dataTaker SMSX modem allows you to:

- Send SMS messages from the logger in response to alarms
- Request information from the logger by simple SMS message from your mobile.
     The modem and dataTaker data logger can be configured so that sending a simple ‘X’ to the unit
     will result in a response of an SMS message with the site data information.
- Set digital output channels to ON or OFF .
- Change the alarm phone numbers using simple SMS commands.
- Remotely download data from the logger.
- Resend alarms to alternative numbers if the message is not received.
