Data Logging, Alarm & Control
    wherever, whenever you need it

The Nudl is a revolutionary data logger that effectively
combines the capabilities of a traditional data logger, a basic
PLC, an SMS alarm sender and a time clock all built into a
single unit.
The Nudl is ideal for a multitude of data logging, alarm and
control applications. It is ideal for applications where remote
access to data or alarms is required applications to which the
unit has been applied include:
• Remote logging, alarm and control of lighting systems
• Remote metering including internet based reports
• Environmental data logging including rainfall or events
The Nudl may be remotely downloaded, configured and
controlled, and its capabilities include features such as;
variable logging rates, SMS alarm, status and control
capabilities, a complete calendar with daylight savings
capabilities, management of GPRS/CDMA1x and more…

Add On Expansion Board
Plug in the optional expansion board to get the following additional features:
• 4 analog inputs
• 2 digital outputs are fixed as outputs
• 3 either digital inputs or digital outputs
• GPS input

Configure the unit, download data and receive alarms on your PC, either by direct connection or via a GSM, GPRS or CDMA/1x modem connection. Internet ready.

Control the logger with SMS
Receive status and alarm signals or control the Nudl via SMS to/from your mobile phone (see cmd list below).
Control pumps, valves, warning lights, sirens or signs with the unit’s digital outputs…or…use the digital inputs to count events

The Nudl is available as a bare board (plus expansion board), while the Slim Nudl, which is based on the basic Nudl board, comes complete in a weatherproof enclosure designed to be able to fit in a 50mm ID bore hole for environmental data logging applications.

Specifications - Nudl Board

Analog Inputs:
• 4 analog inputs with 12 bit resolution,
expandable up to 8 inputs with the Add On Expansion Board.
• Each input can be programmed to be either a 4-20mA input or a 0-2.5V input.
• Additional input signal processing via addon
modules.
• Each input has a discriminator capable of
transforming the analog value into a digital value.
The discriminator can be set to operate as a simple switch or a window. The digital value can be set to be true if the input is above or below the switch threshold or within or outside the window.
• Hysteresis is used to prevent spurious switching around the thresholds.
• Programmable delay from 0 to 255 seconds for each input

Digital Ouputs:
• 1 open collector MOSFET, expandable up to 6 outputs
• The switches can handle loads of 100mA with voltages up to 25Volts.

Logic Functions:
• 8 logic functions each with 4 inputs and 4 AND/OR arrays.
• Logic function output can be inverted.
• Logic function inputs can be derived from digital inputs, digital variables, analogue inputs or timeclocks.

Delay Functions:
• 4 delay functions each capable of generating one of 3 types of output: Delayed turn on, Fixed width output or Input stretching.
• Delay function can be programmed to operate from
either the rising or falling edge of the input.
• Logic function inputs can be derived from digital
inputs, digital variables, analogue inputs or timeclocks.

Timeclocks:
• Delay times from 1 to 255 seconds.
• 8 separate time/action events during the day.
• 4 daily schedules.
• 6 weekly schedules with public holiday override.
These schedules can be used by other functions.
• 8 public holidays.

Logging:
• 128kbytes of logging memory.
• Each analogue input can be selectively logged.
• All log entries are time stamped with a resolution of 1 second.
• All alarms are logged.

• All re-program events are logged.
• All changes to the input limits are logged together with the users phone number.
• Logging intervals selectable from 5 minutes to 1 hour synchronised to cardinal times with optional capability to log at rates from 5 seconds to 255 seconds interval in 1 second steps.
• Logging rate can be controlled by any digital input,
digital variable, analogue input or timeclock.
• Capability to output logged data as a csv style frame
each time a logged sample is stored.

Modem Power Control:
• Capability of powering the modem off.
• Capability of waking the modem up on a regular schedule to allow for remote access.
• Capability of waking the modem up to send a SMS message.

Alarms:
• Alarms are reported by SMS messages.
• 8 separate phone numbers.
• Phone numbers can be selectively enabled by weekly schedules.
• Alarm escalation programmable on each alarm.
Disabled phone numbers are automatically excluded from the escalation.
• Programmable delay time for each alarm.
• Alarm inputs can be derived from digital inputs,
digital variables, analogue inputs or timeclocks.
• Optional daily alarm limit preventing excessive SMS phone bills.
• User programmable number of retries.
• User programmable time between retries.

Digital Variables:
• 32 digital variables accept outputs from the internal functions.
• All digital variables can be used as inputs to any function.

Sensor PowerControl
• MOSFET switched power supply to external sensors.
• Programmable sensor power on delay from 30ms up
to 160secs.
• Programmable analogue sample rate from once/sec
down to 1 sample every 18 hours.

Digital Inputs
• None on the base board, expandable up to 4 inputs.
• Input accepts a switch closure to ground with an external pullup resistor.
• 32 bit counter associated with each input. The
counter counts the positive transitions on an input.

Counter Functions:
• 2 x 16 bit counters.
• Counter inputs can be derived from digital inputs, digital variables, analogue inputs or timeclocks.
• Alarm generation capability if count exceeds a user defined limit.
• Counters can be preset to any value.
• Counters can be cleared by any digital input, digital variable, analogue input or timeclock.
