Monitor Data Loggers and the µSmart Sensors have embedded software that allows them to operate with a dumb terminal, Teletypewriter, or PC running a terminal program.
µSmart sensors can operate without a data logger on a
serial data bus (3-wire Monibus).
Up to 250 sensors can interface into a PC via a single RS 232 port when used
with the SI-8 Serial Interface adapter.
No data logger is required in this mode.
The SmartLog Windows 95/98 based software package is designed to operate either with or without a data logger.
With a data logger: SmartLog running in the PC offers an easier and more powerful method of interface between the operator and a data logger, and provides a graphical display of the most recent readings of the sensors.
Without a data logger, the SmartLog software allows the PC to
mimic the µSmart Data Logger,
and provides a graphical display of the most recent readings of the sensors,
rather than just a simple Terminal program.
SmartLog software offers the following features:
· Real-time readout of sensors (either through the data
logger or SI-8 Monibus to RS232 Converter)
· Single button data downloading and formatting for DDE applications
such as spreadsheets.
· Single button streaming of data to spreadsheet.
· "Plug and play" feature when used with sensors.
· Real time readout with graph (in spreadsheet).
· All components of the embedded software (in the sensors and datalogger),
including sensor scheduling, logger setup and memory access.
· It also displays the most recent readings on-screen, including "dial"
, "meter" and "thermometer" readouts.
