DO NOT attempt to run earlier distributions of the PROM Programmer software "pp.exe" (version <= 5.08) with DirectIO!!! INSTALLATION OF DirectIO NOTE: - The JED Microprocessors distribution of DirectIO comes with a pre configured licence file. - Administrative privileges are required to install DirectIO under MS Windows 2000/XP or MS Windows NT. Log on with administrative privileges. Extract the "JED-DirectIO.zip" to a temporary directory. READ "readme.txt", noting point 3. Run "setup.exe" Open Control Panel -> DirectIO Using the Tabs, verify the following: - [License] User=JED PROM Company=JED Microprocessors Pty Ltd Key= - [Resources] I/O Ports=378-37A IRQ= Memory= Security=C:\PP\PP.EXE If required, alter [Resources] fields that do not reflect the information above. Logout. INSTALLATION OF PROM PROGRAMMER SOFTWARE NOTE: ************************************************************************************************************************ *** The JED DirectIO distribution assumes that the PROM Programmer software (PP.EXE) is in the subdirectory C:\PP.*** ************************************************************************************************************************ - The "pp509.exe" core was written when DOS ruled, and has since been modified to run with DirectIO. - "pp509.exe" expects to use a parallel port at I/O addresses 0x378 - 0x37A ONLY. - DO NOT have any ZIP drives or dongles attached when using "pp.exe" - Auto port ID is DISSABLED in version 5.09 - READ THE PROM Programmer documentation regarding BIOS level set up of the parallel port used with "pp.exe" - Administrative privileges are NOT required to install PROM Programmer software under MS Windows 2000 or MS Windows NT. ***Copy the contents of the J755 EPROM Programmer disk to the subdirectory "C:\PP"
