Stand-alone or PC based via parallel port. $665+GST 1/07
Australian made. Connects to the parallel (printer) port of an IBM-PC or compatible, and so can be used with Notebook computers. It has its own plug-pack power supply. DOS Software included.
Has a 32-pin ZIF socket.
Programs from 2764 up to 27010/020/040/080
& CMOS versions
27C64 up to 27C010/C020/C040/C080, and 27C513/513R.
Atmel EPROMs 27C512/512R/513/513R,
Intel 28F256/512/010/020 flash PROMs can be erased and programmed.
AMD
28F256/512/010/020, AMD 29F010/040,
SGS 28F256/1001,
CSI 28F010
Does not do LV low voltage 3V devices.
Cannot
do page mode devices like SST or similar EEPROMs.
These have serious timing
hassles with windows timing. If Windows or DOS RTC interrupts during a page transfer,
a partial page programming cycle begins and data pages are incomplete.
Adaptor PLCC32 to DIP32 is available for PLCC devices, Australian made, see
below.
It uses ejector socket for easy PLCC insertion and removal.
A Windows 2000/Windows NT version of the PROM Programmer software is available, see below.
Release
Notes with full device list: click here
Note: The following devices
use a new internal programming method involving a 128 byte internal buffer:
SST
EEPROMs, Atmel 29F010, 29F040
Because of Windows multitasking,
internal timeouts can occur when running under Windows, resulting in programming
errors.
Menu driven software is provided for
IBM-PC.
The programmer can use the automatic identifier mode to identify
devices inserted and to select the programming algorithm (i.e. all 27C.... chips).
For older devices without an ID signature, the device type may be selected
from the PC.
Does not program EEPROMs 28C...
A PROM may be programmed with very few keystrokes as the sequence of blank check, program then verify runs automatically.
An editor is provided. PROMs can be read and saved
to disk, edited, and programmed to a new device.
Various Intel and Motorola
file formats may be converted to .BIN format before use.
.BIN files may be
examined and edited, byte by byte. PROM data may be examined directly.
A configuration
file stores the options selected and restores them next time the programmer is
used.
The programmer measures 155 x 90 x 37 mm, and connects to the PC's
parallel printer port via a ribbon cable. Mains plug pack included.
Software
provided runs under DOS, or in a DOS Window under Windows 3.1/95/98, or NT / 2000
/ XP, provided these were installed with DOS Windows enabled. For
operation with Windows NT / 2000 / XP, see below..
Parallel port of computer
should be set to SPP, Standard Parallel Port.

A program called DirectIO
is required: $70+GST ($77 inc GST),
When run first, it allows DOS programs
to run under Win2000/ NT/ XP,
and to access the printer port.
Programmer
software Vs5.09 or Vs5.10 is required to work with the DirectIO program.
Vs 5.09 & 5.10 use LPT port address 378 only, which is used by nearly all
computers by default.
It can be set in the BIOS CMOS setup of the computer.
DirectIO setup instructions for v. 5.10 DirectIO setup instructions for v. 5.09 (.txt file)
To find out your LPT port address: In a DOS window, start (i.e. type) debug <enter> , then d 0:400 <enter>
In the centre of the screen between the columns of numbers there are hyphens.
To the right of the hyphen on the top line is the LPT address, reversed.
For example 78 03 indicates address 378, and 78 02 indicates address 278.
JED756 PLCC32
to DIP32 adaptor, Australian made, for
1M, 2M, 4M & 8M chips $165+GST ($181.50 incl GST).
JED757 PLCC32 to DIP28 adaptor, Australian
made, for under 1M chips $165+GST ($181.50 incl GST).
They
use an ejector socket for easy PLCC insertion and removal. PLCC
is an acronym for Plastic Leaded Chip Carrier
All PLCC Eprom/Flash have 32 pins.
The pinout format changes for devices 1M and up.
PLCC versions of 27256/27512/27010/27020/27040 all have 32 pins.In the dual-in-line format (the socket on the programmer is dual-in-line),
chips up to 512Kbit have 28 pins; 1Mbit & up have 32 pins

Virtual Terminal and Trace Buffer
Windows 9x/Me/2000/NT/XP User
Interface
multiROM replaces the EPROM or FLASH memory of the system under development, thus allowing a very fast uploading of the user's code directly onto the instrument's built-in emulation memory.
During the emulation,
the uploaded code can be watched, edited and analyzed in realtime.
multiROM
is connected to the host PC through a standard parallel port. multiROM
emulates up to 8 or 16 Mbit devices, with data bus widths of 8 and 16 bits.
MultiROM can emulate 2.7 V, 3.3 V and 5 V devices, thanks to its internal circuitry
- no external adapter is needed, thus ensuring no increase in memory access time.
The Live Access feature on the "L" models, allows the host
PC to transparently view/edit the memory under emulation in real time, without
in no way affecting the target's memory access timings (no wait states inserted).
multiROM also features Virtual Terminal, a communication channel between
the host PC and the target system which allows the latter to send messages to
theformer during the emulation (and vice-versa).
The emulators provide
an output Reset signal that can be generated as needed.
multiROM,
additionally, can generate a Trigger Out signal (depending on memory access
conditions specified in the user interface) that can be used by the target system.
A trace buffer is also built in into the instrument. multiROM
Series ROM Emulators come with a powerful user interface for Windows 9x/Me/2000/NT/XP,
parallel cable, DIP-32 emulation pod and user's manual.
Adapters for other
packages are available on request.
An interface library (DLL) for Windows is available (order code 237-00149 $495.00 + GST ) to interface the product with custom developed applications.
Each multiROM package includes a DIP-32 Emulation Pod.
