Spectrum 4000
Voltage & I Loop Input Logger - 1 to 5 Channels

The Spectrum 4000 Universal Input Logger is a convenient and versatile unit for reliable recording of a wide range of measurement variables.

Palm-sized & self-powered, the Spectrum 4000 works with industry-standard sensors, transmitters and signals. No programming or complex equations are required and, once set up, the logger automatically converts your recorded results into familiar engineering units for display, analysis and presentation. With little effort, you can monitor pressure, air movement flow, fluid level, electrical properties, moisture, gas concentrations, etc, etc.

No expensive proprietary sensors are required as you can use the ones you already own. Plus, all setup and scaling information is stored directly and securely in the logger making PC downloading and analysis a snap.

With various 0-to-20 mA current channels and analog voltage channels, the Spectrum 4000 will allow simultaneous monitoring from multiple locations with the same logger. The voltage ranges are switchable between 1 volt and 10 volts (full-scale) to allow maximum range and resolution flexibility, so you can log with greater accuracy.

What's more, if you need to record information in a remote location without any available power, the unit includes an external battery switch. With this software-configurable switch, you can automatically shut off power to loop-powered transducers between readings and conserve external battery power for extended worry-free monitoring.

The Spectrum 4000 is perfect for researchers, building operators, test & measurement engineers and quality control personnel. It's also ideal for OEMs who want to conveniently add data logging capabilities to their existing equipment or instrumentation products.

Ethernet to Serial Adapters

While we cannot guarantee the compatibility of any third party ethernet adapters for use on any given computer or network system, the manufacturer has tested and used the Digi One RealPort device (Esis supplies these, please enquire) server from Digi International and found it to work well with our products.
We make no commitment on the use of these products in a particular application.

The Digi One RealPort Device Server (Digi Part #70001749) converts one Ethernet port to an RJ45 serial port
This port can then be interfaced to a Spectrum data logger through the use of a Spectrum Ethernet Serial cable:

XPS Excitation Power Saver Switch:
The XPS Excitation Power saver Switch is an internal software controlled switch in certain Spectrum-4000 series loggers, that controls loop power for circuits containing one or more 4-20mA transducers. The switch works by opening the measurement circuit in between the readings, then closing just prior to each reading.

The following models are equipped with the XPS Excitation Switch:
DT-4000-1CW  (ch1)
DT-4000           (ch1 & 3)
DT-4000-4CW  (ch1 & 3)

To use the XPS switch, you must determine the transducer warm-up time required for your application. Some transducers may need only a few milliseconds, others may need several minutes.

To set the XPS switch, choose Logger, Setup then select the Warmup Time function. The transducers warm-up time can be set in increments of 10 seconds.

The XPS switch is useful for extending battery operation when used for sampling intervals 20 seconds or longer.
