The
Testo measuring instrument is securely connectedto the Testo alarm modem GSM via
theserial interface.
Communication and triggering of alarms to a mobile phone/PC/fax
take place via the Testo alarm modem, which uses the GSM mobile phone network
for transmission.
The Testo alarm modem is configured via
the separate
software Alarm-Editor.
It must be equipped with a SIM card
and supplied via 10-30VDC or 230 VAC.
For the mobile phone network,we recommend
contract SIM cards (prepaid cards are less suitable) which also allow e-mails
to be sent, such as Vodafone in Germany.

Thereafter, you can start/stop and reset the loggers
using the data transfer stick, however,
if you need to re-program the logger
to different settings, you will need to do this via a PC.
The software can
only be downloaded using the Testo software; this will display the data either
as a Excel type sheet or as a graph.
You can copy the data and paste this
into Excel.

Easy operation, convenient analysis
- produces spreadsheet compatible data files
The Basic version has all the
functions needed to monitor, analyse, save and print data.
The data loggers
are programmed and read out using the instrument drivers available.
The limit
values to be monitored can be defined as required; short titles,
text
fields and channel names ensure clear location if several loggers are in use.
Once read out, the data can be shown in table or graph form and then analysed.
The crosshair function helps you to find specific readings in a large file.
The course of the line is scanned with the crosshair and number, date, time
and reading are displayed.
Current readings can be shown on the computer screen.
The e-mail address of the person destined to receive the data can be input when
programming
so that the data can passed onto the locally installed e-mail
program by simply clicking on “Send...”
when the data is being
read out. The saved e-mail address is entered in the address box.
The
Professional version has all the functions of the Basic version but
with additional functions
(e.g. digit field, bar display, analogue instrument,
xy display)
and a convenient data filing function. Data can be saved in separate
files so that, for example,
several data loggers from different locations
can be organised in a tree structure.
This is particularly recommended for
instruments which can manage many measurement protocols,
e.g. the testo 580
data collector.
The instrument driver in this instrument is set up in such
a way that the directory structure of the Professional software is supported.
The result is clear and comprehensible data handling.

Mean Kinetic Temperature
(MKT)
It is widely recognised
that MKT gives a far more representative picture of the effects of temperature
changes on sensitive materials such as pharmaceuticals and food products during
storage and distribution.
It can
be shown that the shelf life of sensitive materials is directly related to the
MKT. MKT, as defined by the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP), is a single calculated
temperature at which the total amount of degradation over a particular period
is equal to the sum of the individual degradations that would occur at various
temperatures. In non-technical terms, the MKT converts a variable temperature
into an equivalent steady temperature, which is then used to determine the effect
of the excursion on product quality.
For
example Pharmacopoeia recommendations for "controlled room temperature,"
define that the temperature should be maintained between 15 deg C and 30 deg C,
with a mean kinetic temperature of less than 25 deg C. The calculation gives increased
weighting to higher temperature excursions than normal arithmetic methods, recognising
the accelerated rate of thermal degradation of materials at higher temperatures.

testo 580 data collector uniquely allows stored data to be transferred from the
logger on-site

and reprogram several loggers on-site.
The complete memory of the testo 177
data logger or 175 data logger is transferred in seconds, approx. 400 values per
second are transmitted via the infrared interface.
All values collected by
the data collector can then be downloaded to PC and
