PTB220TS is an all in one portable unit that can be used as a portable barometer,
as a transfer or travelling standard and as a laboratory working standard.

Accessories for Vaisala Pressure instruments  

PMI20 Digital Barometer Display  - NO LONGER AVAILABLE -
PMI20 can simultaneously show various values, such as the barometric pressure, the pressure trend and the WMO pressure tendency code.
Ideal for manned weather stations and laboratories. It has both an RS232 and an RS485 connection to the barometer and PC.
Moreover, as the RS485 allows a distance of up to one kilometer between the barometer and the display, the display may be used as an in-house remote display to a barometer installed outdoors.    Five open collector -type control outputs are offered with the display.

The display is compatible with all Vaisala's current barometers with a serial output as well as with the PTU200 Transmitter.

SPH10/20 Static Pressure Heads
Vaisala's static pressure heads are designed to minimize the errors in barometric pressure measurement caused by variations in wind speed and direction.

Humidity & Temperature - Vaisala

  • The HUMICAP TM Humidity Sensors used in Vaisala probes give accurate and reliable relative humidity readings in harsh environments.
  • Operation up to +180°C (some probes)
  • Pressures up to 10MPa
  • Negligible hysteresis
  • Long term stability is excellent
  • Insensitive to dust & dirt, as well as to most chemicals. The only effect of dust or oil films is to slow the response time slightly.

Response time (to 90% final rdg.) after a step change from 0% to 75% RH:
2 sec (no filters & >20°C); 5 sec for HMP 45, etc. 12 or 14 sec (12mm membrane or sintered filter.)

No need for re-calibration
HUMITTER® incorporates Vaisala's revolutionary fully interchangeable INTERCAP® Sensor.
Because of this feature they never need re-calibration.
Instead, the user can easily replace the INTERCAP® Sensor without the expense and inconvenience sometimes associated with the calibration process. And, the sensor’s membrane filter/mechanical housing protects it from dust and dirt.

CO2 Carbon Dioxide - Vaisala

For Food Technology, Horticulture, Environment
High concentrations of carbon dioxide results in unconsciousness and even death.

As high concentrations of CO2 are clearly hazardous, most countries have set exposure limits in the workplace.
In Great Britain, for instance, the weighted average exposure limit for an 8 hour working day is 5000 ppm;
a higher limit of 15,000 ppm applies to an exposure up to 10 minutes.

Applications where carbon dioxide can rise to dangerous levels include the brewing and carbonated drinks industries, food freezing using dry ice, cold storage, cargo ships, and, of course, plants where CO2 or dry ice is produced or handled.

Air quality and ventilation
Even when the carbon dioxide concentration is not high enough to cause problems, it is a good indicator of indoor air quality in general.
A high CO2 level is usually a sign of poor ventilation and the presence of odours and other pollutants such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Poor ventilation also increases the risk of high humidity and in the worst case, a radon build-up in the building.
Demand Controlled Ventilation (DCV) is often based on carbon dioxide measurement.
Higher concentrations of CO2 indicate the presence of people in the room.

Beneficial effects in greenhouses
On the positive side, carbon dioxide can enhance plant growth.
In greenhouses and mushroom farms, the growth rate and development of mushrooms and plants - from cucumbers to most luxurious roses - can be improved by controlling the concentration of carbon dioxide.
This raises the productivity and quality of the crops.
In some cases, the CO2 concentration is used to control when fruits and vegetables ripen.
The concentration of CO2, however, must be carefully adjusted.
If the carbon dioxide level rises too high, the plants can be damaged or their growth stunted.

Food packaging
Adding carbon dioxide to food packaging can considerably extend the storage and shelf life of meat, cheese as well as fruit and vegetables.
In meat packaging, for example, a high concentration of CO2 in the packaging inhibits bacterial growth and retains the natural coloring of the meat.

Vaisala's GMT220 series are the first CARBOCAP® transmitters available for a wide range of industrial CO2 applications including

Wiring:
"3-wire" means 3 wires for one sensor: Ground, Power and Vout.
For humidity and temperature sensors, an extra wire is required for the extra voltage output.
"2-wire" means 2 wires for current loop output. Humidity and temperature sensors require
two "two-wires", i.e. 4 wires total.

In the diagram to the right, the circles with V and mA are meters or measuring devices for the voltage or current.

WS425 F/G Vaisala WINDCAP® Ultrasonic Wind Speed and Direction Sensor

The Vaisala WINDCAP® Ultrasonic Wind Sensor WS425 F/G is a premium, ice-free sensor for measuring surface wind speed and direction.
The sensor has no moving parts and it is resistant to contamination, salt, dust, and corrosion. Thus, the WS425 F/G requires no on-demand or periodic maintenance. The sensor has a heating feature with a total heating power of 150 W.
Wind speed can be measured up to 165 knots with the sensor.

The WS425 F/G uses ultrasound to determine horizontal wind speed and direction. The measurement is based on transit time, the time it takes for the ultrasound to travel from one transducer to another.

The transit time is measured in both directions for each pair of the transducer heads. The wind measurements are calculated in a way that completely elimates the effects of altitude, temperature, and humidity.
The WS425 F/G is especially suitable for use in harsh, arctic or antarctic conditions.
The United States National Weather Service has chosen to replace the mechanical sensors used in the Automated Surface Observing System with the WS425 F/G.

Measure rainfall precipitation with the WXT520.
The measurement is based on the unique Vaisala RAINCAP® Sensor, which detects the impact of individual rain drops.
The signals exerting from the impacts are proportional to the volume of the drops.
Hence, the signal from each drop can be converted directly to the accumulated rainfall.
The Vaisala RAINCAP® Sensor is the only maintenance-free precipitation sensor on the market.
