Rugged tablet is now turbo boosted for more field-based power
Getac has launched an upgrade to its popular V100 fully rugged tablet PC with expanded memory and a 47 per cent increase in processing speed to make it the fastest dual-core rugged convertible tablet on the market.
The upgraded laptop uses Intel® Turbo Boost technology to speed up the processor when extra performance is needed by operators using power hungry programmes out in the field.
At the heart of the V100 is a 1.2GHz Intel Core i7-640UM processor which delivers 2.226GHz processing speed thanks to the Turbo Boost capability. Maximum memory on the V100 has been increased to 8GB with a HDD storage capacity of 320GB.
“The V100 has always been popular because of its advanced features and super bright 1200 NITS sunlight readable screen,” explains Peter Molyneux, Business Development Director of Getac in the UK. “In industries as diverse as public utilities, field service and waste management, we are seeing more use of process-intensive applications such as mapping and this upgrade delivers the speed and performance required by the market today,” he adds.
The versatile V100 weighs a mere 2.3kg and features a swivelling LCD screen with automatic adjustment of both screen and keyboard backlight according to ambient brightness. In addition the V100 screen comes with a multi-touch solution to allow professionals to use it under critical conditions without the need to remove gloves.
The model is housed in a magnesium alloy case and is both military standard (MIL-STD-810G) certified and IP65 certified for durability and protection. It contains a 320GB removable vibration and drop resistant HDD, with the option to include an SSD for increased data access speed and greater battery life.

The unit provides comprehensive connectivity options including Bluetooth, WLAN and WWAN. The wireless networking capabilities have been upgraded to include draft 802.11n and advanced TPM 1.2 security comes as standard to safeguard important data. A full-sized 83-key, waterproof membrane keyboard and an integrated 2 megapixel, water resistant, reversible webcam or in-built GPS receiver also make it ideal for field applications.
“As a pioneer in the rugged market, we tailor our products to give our customers what they want and the inclusion of a 255 degree swing camera means operators can use the reversible screen as a viewfinder or link with GPS to combine processing power and accuracy wherever they are,” adds Molyneux.
The V100 comes with a five-year warranty and optional extras include both standard and light vehicle docking systems and an office docking station. It has two USB ports, an option for smart-card reader or Express Card for special applications and requirements, PCMCIA Type II and SD Card slots, both Fingerprint and vPro Security, and external VGA and eSATA I/O Port.
“The added memory and processing speed alone make the V100 the ideal all-in-one solution for mobile-based applications,” comments Molyneux, “coupled with the 1200 NITS sunlight readable screen, flexibility of connectivity and added extras, it will prove ideal for anyone working in some of the toughest environments,” adds Molyneux.

ARK-3202 is a powered by the Intel Atom N270 processor, and inherits a rugged chassis design with additional I/O interfaces, including DVI and VGA dual displays, mic in, line out, dual Giga LAN, optional 8-bit DIO, five USB 2.0, optional GPS on-board, and up to six serial ports with RS-422/485 auto flow control. ARK-3202 offers low power consumption and excellent flexibility, especially in the I/O interface department, which makes it highly adaptable to different applications.
ARK-3360 High Performance Dual Display Embedded IPC
ARK-3360 is a high performance industrial computer that supports Intel Atom N450/D510 processors, and has an Intel® 3.5 generation chipset built in. It offers dual display and support for high-resolution wide screen, three GbE ports, six USB 2.0 ports, a maximum of six COM ports, and MiniPCIe/MiniPCI expansion for a communication module such as HSDPA, WLAN. It brings high performance and high expansion capabilities to diverse applications.
The new ARK Atom series of embedded IPCs are ultra-compact for easy setup andmaintenance. Both ARK-3202 and ARK-3360 support a wide range of operatingtemperatures, from -20 to 60° C. And for power supply they support a wide input voltage range, from 12 to 24 VDC. The comprehensive I/O functions all feature low power consumption. This innovation extends the embedded designs to applications with thermal and size constraints, including in-vehicle, retail, signage, surveillance, factory control and many others, all made possible by low-power systems. Advantech ARK Atom box IPCs provide better graphic and processor performance, but without extra cost.

Ideal for large networks that comprise multiple environments such as a warehouse,
clean room and climate control chambers. Customizable Individual report profiles can
be built for each environment and generated periodically to meet 21 CFR Part 11
requirements.
Mean Kinetic Temperature (MKT) calculation added to Data Analysis menu,
providing an essential quality control measurement in warehousing and distribution
industries.
The MKT calculation will measure the effect of temperature changes on perishable
goods, which are most vulnerable during storage or transportation, keeping businesses
in control during the most critical stages of the product life cycle.
Data download to DataNet software via USB port. For maximizing data security,
logged data can be downloaded directly to workstations using the integrated USB
connector (on selected hardware units only).
Substitute Receiver ensuring added data protection -. Any existing Repeater on the same network can be transformed into Receiver mode, connected to the DataNet workstation via USB and seamlessly continue data transmission from network loggers to the PC. If the original Receiver is recovered, the Repeater can be placed back on the network according to its original definitions.
Additional functionality in DataNet software interface, with the ability to perform
multi-device actions (Stop, Run, Turn-off), as well as enabling device name tags in the
Map View to easily find specific loggers.
This saves precious time in large scale networks by sending specific commands
simultaneously to more than one device rather than one at a time.
The enriched features, new system units bringing increased functionality and
comprehensive software (21CFR part 11 version available) all help position the DataNet
as an advance system offering a risk-free approach to real-time monitoring.
This adds a unique licensing per system, securing maximum technical support
efficiency.
Addition of new hardware units to the DataNet product family to offer a more flexible
network and support a wider range of application infrastructures:
- DNL804, a single channel battery operated data logger with 4-20 mA input, providing a cost efficient solution for integration with third-party sensors.
- DNL910 and DNL920 PA data loggers with internal power amplifier, sustaining extended RF range (to match the DNR900 range) 1
All hardware devices specifications have been enhanced, to become more robust including greater power consumption efficiency, resulting in extended battery life, as well as improved charging mechanisms. The wireless ZigBee network communication has been advanced, resulting in faster and more efficient handling of wide network deployment and faster network uptimes following launching of DataNet software.
New LogTag 3 in 1 (Thermometer + Minimum/Maximum + Data Logger)
We now have available the Logtag Temperature with a display. This logger logs temperature against time and date, but also has a display for the current temperature and the minimum and maximum temperatures for the previous 30 days. It also indicates when an alarm has been breached.
The Logtag Display needs to be set up with the usual Logtag software and reader, but it means that the user can see the what is happening and what has happened without downloading the results.To save results they still need to be downloaded to a PC.
Combining the easy-to-use simplicity of the LogTag with the advantages of a comprehensive LCD display, the new LogTag Display offers unbeatable value.
