What's the difference between a hub, a switch, and a router?
In a word, intelligence.
Hubs, switches, and routers are all devices that let you connect one or more computers to other computers, networked devices, or even other networks.

Detailed info ...
WAN, LAN

A Wide Area Network (WAN) is a telecommunication network that covers a broad area (i.e., any network that links across metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries). Business and government entities utilize WANs to relay data among employees, clients, buyers, and suppliers from various geographical locations. In essence this mode of telecommunication allows a business to effectively carry out its daily function regardless of location.[1]    More info (Wiki)

This is in contrast with personal area networks (PANs), local area networks (LANs), campus area networks (CANs), or metropolitan area networks (MANs) which are usually limited to a room, building, campus or specific metropolitan area (e.g., a city) respectively.

A Network Switch or Switching Hub is a computer networking device that connects network segments.

The term commonly refers to a multi-port network bridge that processes and routes data at the data link layer (Layer 2) of the OSI model. Switches that additionally process data at the network layer (Layer 3) and above are often referred to as Layer 3 switches or multilayer switches. More info (Wiki)
