VESA Mount Compliance Explained (click to view)
The Video & Electronics Standards Association of USA (VESA) has issued suggested standards for the attachment mounting systems for electronic visual displays. This is how the mount attaches to the display itself.
Whilst these standards are quite detailed the basic details of the standards involve the size of the display and the relevant spacing and sizing of the hole to mount the display.
Screen Size
12 inch to 23 inch Displays (305mm to 583mm)
Hole pattern: 4 holes M4 screw thread
75mm x 75mm (3"x3" approx.) or
100mm x 100mm (4"x4" approx.)
VESA MIS-D, 100/75, C compliant monitors are equipped with either a 100 x 100 mm or 75 x 75 mm mounting hole pattern. This is the most common interface for monitors weighing under 30 lbs (14 kg).
23 inch to 30.9 inch (584mm to 787mm)
Hole Pattern: 6 holes M4 screw thread
100mm x 200mm (4" x 8" approx.)
VESA MIS-E, C compliant monitors are equipped with a 200 x 100 mm mounting hole pattern. Mid-size displays may use this interface. eg. Ergotron the NeoFlex HD Wall Mounts.
31 inch to 90 inch (787mm to 2286mm)
Hole Pattern: increments of 8 inches (200mm)
Up to 50 kg M6 screw thread Over 50 kg M8 screw thread
VESA MIS-F, C compliant monitors have varied hole patterns that are spaced in 200 mm increments (e.g., 400 x 200 mm and 600 x 400 mm are VESA MIS-F compliant configurations).
Large displays often follow this standard.
Products like the Ergotron TM and WM are designed to handle these large displays.

VESA Mount Compliance Explained (click to view)
The Video & Electronics Standards Association of USA (VESA) has issued suggested standards for the attachment mounting systems for electronic visual displays. This is how the mount attaches to the display itself.
Whilst these standards are quite detailed the basic details of the standards involve the size of the display and the relevant spacing and sizing of the hole to mount the display.
Screen Size
12 inch to 23 inch Displays (305mm to 583mm)
Hole pattern: 4 holes M4 screw thread
75mm x 75mm (3"x3" approx.) or
100mm x 100mm (4"x4" approx.)
VESA MIS-D, 100/75, C compliant monitors are equipped with either a 100 x 100 mm or 75 x 75 mm mounting hole pattern. This is the most common interface for monitors weighing under 30 lbs (14 kg).
23 inch to 30.9 inch (584mm to 787mm)
Hole Pattern: 6 holes M4 screw thread
100mm x 200mm (4" x 8" approx.)
VESA MIS-E, C compliant monitors are equipped with a 200 x 100 mm mounting hole pattern. Mid-size displays may use this interface. eg. Ergotron the NeoFlex HD Wall Mounts.
31 inch to 90 inch (787mm to 2286mm)
Hole Pattern: increments of 8 inches (200mm)
Up to 50 kg M6 screw thread Over 50 kg M8 screw thread
VESA MIS-F, C compliant monitors have varied hole patterns that are spaced in 200 mm increments (e.g., 400 x 200 mm and 600 x 400 mm are VESA MIS-F compliant configurations).
Large displays often follow this standard.
Products like the Ergotron TM and WM are designed to handle these large displays.
