CyberVisuell TBOX-11410 is an ultra-small fan-less industrial Box PC model, it adapts Intel Apollo lake Celeron CPU, having advanced computer performance and low power consumption. TBOX-11410 series storage can support 1 *mSATA SSD; The design has a limited communication interface, with 2* LAN ports, 4* USB ports; The power input is DC 12V.
CyberVisuell TBOX-11410 uses fully-sealed box construction, and it can prevent dust from entering the device system. Large aluminum fin heat sink can distribute the heat effectively and quickly, ensures the longer reliability and life-span of the system. CyberVisuell TBOX-11410 operating temp. is -20℃~+60℃, can be suitable for longer-time operating and harsh environment industrial application projects, such as intelligent transportation system, machine vision, medical device, textile machinery, rail transportation and industry automation. CyberVisuell TBOX-11410 series can be compatible with Windows 10, Linux Operating system and embedded Operating system, and it is also compatible with application software based on those operating systems.

Advantech Fanless Box PC’s
ARK and UNO Range compared
There are a number of key difference between the two families.
The form factors are indeed similar but the key differentiators are the internals.
The UNO Range is made from the Advantech Single Board range, so the computer as a whole exists on a single board and the only internal wiring is typically a SATA cable to connect to the storage media.
All other components such as the CPU, and memory are on the board and secured down via the chassis casing.
The CPU is thermally connected to the chassis part of the casing.
The memory in some cases is embedded onto the board or can be replaced/upgraded by taking the unit apart. The memory itself is also up against the chassis, so that this too draws heat away from the memory modules in order to increase the reliability.
The Chassis/Memory & Chassis/CPU design also allows for the unit to undergo vibration and shock loadings without the risk of the Memory or CPU from dislodging from the mainboard.
UNO computers come to market later compared with the ARK range, (the UNO Range have released the i7 design 6-12 months after the ARK equivalent). The designs are much more focused on communications. Currently nearly all designs are using 2Gb Ethernet network ports, with some designs using 3 or even 4 ports, as well as the typical assortment of serial communications and USB ports.
The Ark Series computers typically have Mini PCI or Mini PCIe slots for internal expansion, whereas few UNO computers have these, extra features being mounted directly on the main board.
The ARKs typically gain expansion via a riser card system which need to be ordered with the unit. If the project specification is not known then this can be hard to correct later once the unit is on site.
A few UNO computers have PCI-104 expansion, which allows them to integrate Advantech small form factor data acquisition and communications cards range. These can be internally housed in the UNO unit or encased with a modular expansion system.

AMS100-807 Fanless System
The AMS100-807 is a fanless embedded system featuring the Intel™ Atom™ Processor D2550 and Intel™ NM10 chipset. This platform along with the Atom™ D2550 1.86GHz processor that has two CPU cores, 1MB L2 cache, and manufactured on 32nm process, allows higher performance and lower power consumption. Both Hyper-Threading technology and higher clocked on-chip graphics controller are supported. The on-die graphics core supports two display interfaces including a DVI-I and a 24-bit single channel LVDS connection.
The AMS100-807 supplies a rich selection of I/O and expansion capabilities that include up to eight serial ports, four USB 2.0 ports, a CFast socket, a 2.5-inch SSD drive bay, and one PCI or PCI-E expansion slot. Networking functionality comes in the form of two Gigabit Ethernet ports. The system’s serial and networking interface make it a good communication platform especially for industrial automation applications.
The standard configuration of the AMS100-807 has four serial ports, while the four additional ports are optional with the PK1-20B expansion cable. The RS-232/422/485 function is preset in the BIOS. The AMS100-807 can accept a +12V to +24V power via a 3-pin terminal block or power jack. The slim unit has dimensions of 250mm by 64mm by 162mm.

Application Guide for Fanless PCs
Manufacturing Plants
In manufacturing environments, fanless PCs are great for controlling machinery and production lines. Their resistance to dust, debris and high temperatures makes them ideal for hot and dirty conditions. Mounted on machinery or in control cabinets, they may operate without any screen or keyboard, or with a touch screen to perform HMI tasks.
Typical software would include industrial automation, SCADA, and MES packages. These applications need reliable execution in real time rather than high processing power. A common choice is a Core i5 processor, or budget conscious choice would be a Celeron processor such as Elkhart Lake J6412.
Other requirements include operating temperatures up to at least 60 degrees C, and connectivity including Ethernet, serial RS-232 and RS-485 ports, and multiple USB ports. The PCs are often powered from 24V DC, hence a PC with 9-36VDC power input would be ideal.
The TBOX-12E15 (Celeron J6412) or TBOX-12T25 (11th Gen i5) are ideal choices for this application, equipped with the optional 9-36V DC power input.
Digital Signage
In outdoor kiosks and digital signage, fanless PCs need to withstand varying weather conditions, from extreme heat to sub zero cold. The size of the computer is important, as the PC will usually be mounted inside a weatherproof enclosure behind a screen. The PC must have enough graphics power to run signage software and play high resolution video content, whilst not generating a lot of heat. And connectivity to the cloud can be critical to allow the signage content to be updated in real time.
In less hot climates, or for indoor digital signage projects, the very compact TBOX-11E10 would be ideal, with a Celeron J6412 processor that dissipates only 10W of power and plays smooth video. When fitted with wide temperature RAM and SSD it can operate over a wide temperature range from -20 to +60C, and it has room for a cellular and/or WiFi module to provide connectivity to the cloud, whilst still being small enough to easily fit inside almost any enclosure.
In the hottest climates, temperatures inside outdoor enclosures can sometimes go beyond the 60 degree mark. If space permits, consider the TBOX-12E15 which is rated -20 to 70 degrees C operating when fitted with wide temperature RAM and SSD.
Healthcare Facilities
In hospitals and clinics, fanless PCs are ideal for medical imaging and patient monitoring. Being compact, reliable and low power, they can be mounted on trolleys and powered by a battery backed UPS, or fitted onto a fold-up wall bracket to make a compact workstation. The fanless design is rugged enough to handle a moving trolley, and minimises the build-up of dust and microbes, contributing to a clean environment.
TBOX-11T25 would be a great choice for a trolley or wall mounted health care PC, with Core i5 midrange performance suitable for desktop applications, and a compact, low power footprint.
Food and Beverage Industry
In food processing areas, cleanliness is paramount, and wash down areas are common. PCs are normally either housed in a waterproof enclosure or located in an adjacent area that is not subject to wash downs. If the PC is in an enclosure, using a fanless industrial PC is essential to avoid overheating due to lack of airflow. If used in an adjacent room, industrial fanless PCs also improve reliability and help reduce the accumulation of dust, reducing contamination risks.
Typically a Core i3 or i5 processor would be chosen for software executing tasks such as quality control, batch processing or supply chain management. Hence the TBOX-12T15 or TBOX-12T25 would be ideal for mounting in a waterproof enclosure or installing in adjacent dry areas, but be sure to add the optional 9-36V DC power input. Consider adding the optional WiFi module to provide flexibility of locating the unit away from wired networks.
Transportation
In vehicles, industrial fanless PC’s are well suited to handle the shock, vibration and temperature extremes of the onboard environment. A vehicle parked in full sunlight can easily reach close to 70 degrees C, and the vehicle power circuits can also suffer from spikes and over voltages which would damage a regular computer.
Look for a rugged fanless PC with an operating temperature range up to 70 degrees C, such as TBOX-12T25 (core i5) or TBOX-12E15 (Celeron) and be sure to ask for wide temperature RAM/SSD, and the 9-36V wide voltage range power input. For 12V vehicles a range of 9-36V is usually adequate, however when installing on a larger vehicle with 24V supply, consider adding an external DC-DC converter for additional over voltage protection. A 4G Cellular module can also be installed into the TBOX to provide mobile internet connectivity.
Surveillance and Security
For surveillance systems, fanless PCs offer reliable, long-term operation without the noise that could interfere with audio recording or distract personnel monitoring security footage. Models are available with multiple PoE network sockets built in, for direct connection to PoE IP cameras.
For applications requiring extra processing power such as large numbers of cameras or image recognition software, TBOX-13230 is designed for security and surveillance, with Core i7 performance, 4x PoE network ports, and space for an M.2 system drive as well as a 2.5” data drive.
For applications with basic functionality and only a few cameras, consider TBOX-13110 with a Celeron J6412 processor and 3x PoE network ports (plus 1 regular network port).

What is a fanless PC?
A fanless PC is a small computer that is designed to work without using any fans for cooling. It has to be carefully designed because all computer processors generate heat, and it is not so easy to get heat out of the casing without fans. Fanless Industrial computers take this one step further, adding several design features to make them “industrial grade”, such as operating in high ambient temperatures up to 60 or 70 degrees C, and using higher quality components to last for years under 24×7 operation.
The majority of fanless PC’s will make use of “low power” processors, which dissipate less heat than a regular desktop processor. However there are also some high end fanless PC’s that use desktop processors as well – these need larger heat sinks and are carefully designed to make sure the don’t overheat even under harsh conditions.
How does a fanless PC work?
All computers generate heat. The hottest part is usually the main processor or CPU. Graphics cards and spinning hard drives can also generate significant heat. To get all this heat out of the computer box, the easiest and cheapest way is to use fans to blow air through the insides of the PC. This is how most normal computers are cooled. On the other hand, in a fanless PC a large heat sink is used, which is a metal block with a lot of fins cut out of it. Internally the components that generate heat will then need to be thermally joined to the heat sink, to make sure their heat is efficiently carried away. Normally solid state drives are also used, which generate less heat and can tolerate higher temperatures.
Why use a Fanless PC?
Fan cooling of computers can cause problems: in most environments there is dust in the air, and the dust gradually builds up inside the PC, blocking the airflow and causing failures. In addition, mechanical fans are less reliable than the solid state electronics of the PC itself, so fans are likely to fail at some point. When a fan fails, the whole PC is in danger of overheating and getting damaged. Also fans are often the noisiest part of a computer, and are not well suited to use on moving platforms and vehicles. Fanless PC’s solve all these problems. Hence fanless PC’s are ideal for use in environments such as dusty factories, outdoor kiosks and equipment enclosures, moving vehicles, and remote locations that are hard to get to. They are also preferred for “home theatre” use where the background noise of a fan interferes with the sound.
What’s the difference between an Industrial Grade mini PC and a regular mini PC?

Is a Mini PC good for my application?
Mini PC’s are an excellent choice for a wide variety of applications. Most small PC’s will run standard Windows and Linux operating systems, so they can be used for most applications that a regular PC would do. They range in power from lightweight and low power processors up to the high power Core i7. Choosing a fanless mini PC gives you the added benefits that it’s totally silent, and never gets full of dust, so you won’t need to clean it out. Going one step further and choosing an industrial fanless PC will provide extra reliability and durability – your industrial fanless embedded computer work reliably for years and years even in harsh environments.
Industrial embedded fanless PC’s are ideal where a PC is needed in an outdoor enclosure or in a dusty, hot environment. Regular PC’s would simply not survive in such environments.
Another application where we highly recommend using fanless solid state mini PC’s is for vehicles and boats. Configuring a fanless mini PC with a solid state disk (SSD) means the computer will have no moving parts, making it much more shock and vibration proof than a regular mini PC.
However mini fanless PC’s do have some limitations which means they are not suitable for every application. Fanless computer systems are not for applications requiring high powered add-in cards like high end graphics cards, RAID cards or other large add-on cards. The processor power and thermal dissipation is also always matched to the cooling capacity of the heat sink, so fanless PC’s are not available with the absolute highest powered CPU’s which generate large amounts of heat. This is a physical limitation with passive heatsink based cooling.

Points to consider before choosing a fanless PC
- Where will the PC be installed? Consider the size constraints, and how it will be physically mounted. Many fanless PC’s have mounting flanges included.
- What temperature range will it be exposed to? If it’s installed outdoors in a cabinet, or in a vehicle, the temperature can soar above 60 degrees C on a hot day, and dip below zero in cold mountainous areas, so choose a model with a suitable temperature rating.
- Do you need an IP rating, for dust proofing or water proofing? Most fanless PC’s are reasonably dust resistant, however some fanless PC’s are available with waterproof IP ratings as well (including waterproof connectors).
- Is this PC to go in a moving vehicle? If so, consider shock and vibration ratings, or request a rugedised PC.
- How fast a CPU do you need? Atom, Celeron, i3, i5, i7 – it depends on what software you’re planning to run.
- How much RAM and storage (SSD) do you need? Again this depends on what software you plan to run. Choices range from 4GB RAM / 64GB SSD up to 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD or even more.
- What operating system do you require? Common choices are Windows 11 Pro, Windows 10 IoT, or Linux.
- What add-on cards will you need? Common ones include WiFi, 4G/LTE modem, Bluetooth, GPS.
- What input and output ports do you need? Consider USB 2 / USB 3, Serial RS232 / RS485, Network (PoE required for powering cameras?), VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort, GPIO, etc.
- What power source will you use to power the fanless PC? If you have DC power onboard a vehicle or boat, make sure your fanless PC is rated to a wide DC voltage range on its power input, and is over voltage protected. Are fanless PCs as reliable as normal desktop PCs?

Difference between Windows 11 Pro and Windows 10 IoT
Windows 11 Pro is the operating system most people are familiar with, for normal desktop or notebook PC’s. However when a PC is to be used in an “embedded” situation, you can get a lower cost Windows licence suited for the application. Windows 10 Enterprise IoT LTSC is a special Windows licensing model where you get the full version of Windows 10 Enterprise, but the licence is designed for the PC to only run one or two specific applications. This is ideal for many industrial uses where the PC will typically only run a control program and nothing else. In addition to the licensing restrictions, Windows 10 Enterprise IoT LTSC is also tweaked so it only downloads important security updates, without changing the base operating system version. By comparison, the normal desktop version of Windows 10 automatically updates itself whenever a new version comes out, which can add new features, sometimes changing the way things work. This can cause issues for embedded or remote PC’s where someone can’t always be available to sort out any resulting software issues. It’s especially important where the PC is embedded into a product and can’t be accessed in a normal way.
Will a fanless PC overheat?
No, a well-designed fanless PC will not overheat. Thanks to highly efficient CPUs and the use of the body of the PC as a heat sink, they are able to remain cool in a wide variety of environments.
Are fanless PCs safe?
Absolutely, yes. As long as you use your fanless PC in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions they are perfectly safe.
What are the main differences between fanless PCs and regular PCs?
A fanless mini PC will not, of course, have a fan but there are some other key differences: they are tested to higher temperatures; they are often ruggedised to work in high vibration environments; and they don’t come with monitors, keyboards or other peripherals.

LTSP = Linux Terminal Server Project

MiniPCI was added to PCI version 2.2 for use in laptops, superseded by mini PCIe (see below). The standard size for Mini PCI cards is approximately a quarter of their full-sized counterparts. There is no access to the card from outside the case, (unlike desktop PCI cards with brackets carrying connectors).

Mini PCIe or Mini PCI Express card is a replacement for the Mini PCI form factor, based on PCI Express. The host device supports both PCI Express and USB 2.0 connectivity, and each card may use either standard. mSATA: A standard form factor for SATA solid state drives that is about the size of a credit card, and plugs directly onto the main board of the computer. The connector and card size are physically the same as for a Mini-PCIe card.
m.2: A standard form factor for SATA solid state drives and other add-on cards, about the size of a stick of gum, and plugs directly onto the main board of the computer. There are various card sizes supported, and the connector carries signals for PCIe, SATA, and USB interfaces, allowing flexibility and performance.
