USB Sensors - Temperature & Humidity
M17090 USB Humidity & Temperature Sensor with ClewareControl data logging software
The USB-Humidity measures the relative humidity and air temperature though a hole in the middle of the housing.
The device contains a calibrated precision sensor with a measurement accuracy of ±2 % relative humidity and ±0.4°C in most part of measurement range.
The size of the device is about 40 x 90 x 23 mm.
The valid temperature range for using the USB-Humidity is – 20° to +80° C.
Using the sensor outside this range may destroy it.
When temperature falls below 0°C, the USB cable should not be dejected to avoid damage of the cable cover.
The usage of the USB-Temp is strictly prohibited in the following applications:
- medical application of any kind
- production and processing of food
- when the failure of the sensor will harm people
Up to 127 sensors may theoretically be connected to a PC using several HUBs. This makes it very easy to compare the temperature of different places. When using Cleware USB devices it is not necessary to install device drivers. The standard USB drivers are sufficient. So the system stability will not be harmed.
The USB-Humidity is delivered with the software ClewareControl for displaying and managing measured values. The software runs with Windows® 98, Windows® 98 SE, Windows® ME, Windows® 2000, Windows® XP and Windows® .NET. (® Microsoft Windows is a registered trademark of the Microsoft Corporation). No special device drivers are necessary to use the Cleware USB devices. The already installed device driver are sufficient.
The application ClewareControl will do the temperature and humidity visualisation. ClewareControl also logs the data. Every sensor may control up to 256 actions such as sound, email, execution of any program or switch an USB-Switch. In case of Windows 2000 or XP, an entry in the event log could be the result of an action.
The USB-Humidity may also be controlled via the network. The connection is established with the TCP/IP protocol. On the remote control PC the USB-Humidity appears like a local device and could be handled the same way. Several devices even on different PCs could be controlled simultaneously. An application Program interface (API) to drive the USB-Temp from customer programs is part of the delivery. The API bundles some very simple functions for opening and reading the device. The complex USB device handling is hided. An ActiveX-DLL is available for use with VisualBasic.

M17085 USB Temperature Sensor with ClewareControl data logging software
This USB temperature sensor simply plugs into the USB port and allows the PC to monitor and log the temperature wherever the sensor is placed.
The unit does not require drivers and comes with an API for easy integration into the users own applications.
Up to 127 sensors can be connected to one pc using USB hubs.
These devices should not be used where failure of the sensor could harm people.
The application ClewareControl is supplied, please read the description of this below. When used with M17085, only the temperature channel will show.
Description:
The temperature sensor is located inside a small black anodized aluminium case filled with non-inflammable casting resign (VL94). This makes the sensor very robust.
The size of the sensor is about 40 mm x 25 mm x 15 mm and it is connected to the PC using a 2 m long USB cable.
The measuring resolution is 0.0625° Celsius and the accuracy is at least 1° C. At production time the sensor was calibrated to 0.2° C. Using the supplied software the sensor could be recalibrated anytime to get a better result.
The valid temperature range for using the 17085 is -20° to +80° C. Using the sensor outside this range may damage it.
The case protects the sensor against humidity and splashed water. The sensor must not be operated under water for a long periods of time as the case will slowly absorb water. There is no guarantee that the sensor materials will not react with it’s environment.
The usage of the M17085 is strictly prohibited in the following applications:
- medical application of any kind
- production and processing of food
- when the failure of the sensor will harm people
Up to 127 sensors may theoretically be connected to a PC using several USB HUBs. This makes it very easy to compare the temperature of different places. When using this USB device it is not necessary to install device drivers. The standard USB drivers are sufficient. So the system stability will not be harmed.
The M17085 is delivered with the software for displaying and managing measured values. The software runs with Windows© 98, Windows© 98 SE, Windows© ME, Windows© 2000, Windows© XP, Windows© Vista, Windows© 7 and Windows© .NET.
The software will do the temperature visualisation. Every sensor may control up to 256 actions such as sound, email, execution of any program or switch a USB-Switch(17083). In case of Windows 2000, XP, Vista and 7, an entry in the event log could be the result of an action.
The M17085 may also be controlled via the network. The connection is established with the TCP/IP protocol. On the remote control PC the 17085 appears like a local device and could be handled the same way. Several devices even on different PCs can be controlled simultaneously in this manner.
The recorded values can automatically be stored on your HDD. The compression of the measured values is also supported to reduce memory needs.
Export functions to use the data in foreign programs (e.g. Excel) are available.
An Application Program Interface (API) to drive the M17085 from customer programs is part of the delivery. The API bundles some very simple functions for opening and reading the device. An ActiveX-DLL is available for use with VisualBasic.
An API and a simple example for accessing a M17085 is available for Linux as well.
Every Sensor has a unique serial number. This make it easy to identify the devices even when the USB plug position changes or new USB devices are connected. The serial number is accessible through the API and could therefore be used as a simple dongle.
