HUMICAP and INTERCAP Humidity sensor element details

HUMICAP

The HUMICAP TM Humidity Sensors used in Vaisala probes give accurate and reliable relative humidity readings in harsh environments.

  • Operation up to +180°C (some probes)
  • Pressures up to 10MPa
  • Negligible hysteresis
  • Long term stability is excellent
  • Insensitive to dust & dirt, as well as to most chemicals.
  • The only effect of dust or oil films is to slow the response time slightly.

Response time (to 90% final rdg.) after a step change from 0% to 75% RH:
2 sec (no filters & >20°C); 5 sec for HMP 45, etc. 12 or 14 sec (12mm membrane or sintered filter.)

HUMICAP® 180C is composite general purpose humidity sensor with good humidity durability and short response time. Item contain humidity and temperature sensors. This sensor is used for chemical purge and heated probe options.

HUMICAP® 180R is robust general purpose humidity sensor. It has high humidity durability, good long term stability and good tolerance against chemical exposure.

HUMICAP® 180RC is robust composite general purpose humidity sensor. It has high humidity durability, good long term stability and good tolerance against chemical exposure. Item contain humidity and temperature sensors. This sensor is used for chemical purge and heated probe options.

HUMICAP® 180L2 is moisture measurement sensor in liquids. It has good tolerance against chemicals and moderate humidity durability.

HUMICAP® H3K is 47 pF general purpose humidity sensor.

INTERCAP – Vaisala’s revolutionary fully interchangeable INTERCAP® Sensor – general purpose humidity sensor with good humidity durability and short response time.

Because of this feature they never need re-calibration.

Instead, the user can easily replace the INTERCAP® Sensor without the expense and inconvenience sometimes associated with the calibration process. And, the sensor’s membrane filter/mechanical housing protects it from dust and dirt.

For ‘humidity and temperature’ sensors, an extra wire is required for the extra voltage output.

“2-wire” means 2 wires for current loop output. ‘Humidity and temperature’ sensors require two “two-wires”, i.e. 4 wires total.

In the diagram to the right, the circles with V and mA are meters or measuring devices for the voltage or current.

All common humidity parameters are available in the new HMD62: dew point, wet bulb, enthalpy, absolute humidity, mixing ratio. All these parameters can be selected using DIP-switches.

Field adjustment is easy with the high precision trimmers or using the Vaisala HUMICAP® Hand-held Humidity and Temperature Meter HM70. The transmitter is also configurable using the Vaisala Insight PC Software.

The combination of high accuracy, stability and reliable operation makes this product series an ideal choice for museums, cleanrooms and laboratories to mention a few examples. The products come with a traceable calibration certificate.

Easy installation: The probe cable has a screw-on quick connector for easy installation. Different cable lengths are available. Also other compatible M8 series cables can be used. Several outputs: There are two configurable voltage outputs with relative humidity, temperature or dew point scaling. Four voltage output ranges are available.

Rugged design: The HMP60 is designed for extreme conditions. The aluminium body of the HMP60 is classified as IP65. The probe has a sealed structure and the sensor is protected by a membrane filter and a plastic grid, or optionally by a stainless steel filter.

The humidity parameter options available are: relative humidity, dew point/frost point, wet bulb temperature, enthalpy, absolute humidity, mixing ratio, vapor pressure, and saturation vapor pressure.

The HMT120/130 transmitters use a fully interchangeable relative humidity probe. The probe can be easily removed and replaced with a new one without having to adjust the transmitter, which allows for easy and quick recalibration of the transmitter.

The probe can be adjusted using one of Vaisala’s portable meters as a reference. Also available is a constant output probe with fixed RH and T output for convenient inspection of the monitoring system and signal transfer line.

Available Options The HMT120 and HMT130 transmitters are available as wall mounted or with remote probe.

For high temperature applications or where space is limited, the remote probe is ideal.

The Vaisala HUMICAP® Digital Humidity Module HMM105 is an open frame module for integration into environmental chambers. The modules provide an I2C output for relative humidity (RH) or dew point (Td).

The module consists of a detachable probe assembly – a probe head with M10x1 threads and a flex cable and the module circuit board.

The probe assembly is 30 cm in length. The module incorporates the Vaisala HUMICAP® 180R sensor which ensures excellent measurement accuracy.

The Vaisala Meteorological Installation Kit HMT330MIK enables the Vaisala HUMICAP® Humidity and Temperature Transmitter HMT337 to be installed outdoors to obtain reliable measurements for meteorological purposes.

  • Humidity Calibrator, based on the use of salt solutions.
  • Consists of two salt chambers, thermometer and instructions.
  • Salts and Ion exchanged water need to be ordered separately.
