In the realm of critical data, security is of utmost importance. Organisations must safeguard their data at all times, including in the event of unauthorised physical access to storage devices. To address this concern, some organisations are adopting high-speed GPIO hardware-triggered crypto erase on SSDs.

This functionality enables rapid and comprehensive data erasure within seconds, ensuring the utmost data security and confidentiality.

    A military standard erase process

SQFlash-customised Advantech SSDs are equipped with GPIO (General Purpose Input Output) ports, which can be connected to a specially designed secure system. If an unauthorised user tries to access the SSD, the GPIO trigger activates, promptly initiating the military-standard crypto erase process.

This process rapidly erases all tables on the SSD and switches the AES key within seconds. As a result, the data becomes unreadable, impossible to access or copy and unrecoverable to anyone.

This exceptional level of security provides peace of mind to organisations, assuring that their critical data remains safe, even in the event of a security breach.

This technology marks a significant advancement in safeguarding sensitive data, and its adoption is expected to increase across various industries as organisations seek impenetrable methods to enhance information security.  SQFlash has designed the GPIO Hardware-Triggered Security on many Advantech standard products.
