High Temperature loggers - Autoclave
High Temperature loggers – Autoclave
When you need to record temperature (or pressure) in a high temperature environment such as an autoclave or oven, you will need a data logger specifically designed for high temperature and high pressure environments. Most regular data loggers cannot withstand more than about 80°C and that too only for short time periods.
Esis specialises in high temperature data logging, and we have several loggers that can survive 140°C or even up to 260°C for limited times with a suitable thermal shield. There are several options at different price points, detailed below. If you’re feeling unsure, please contact us to discuss your needs.
ACR Nautilus – Rugged Temperature Loggers, to 85°C or 125°C
ACR Nautilus data loggers are single channel, waterproof temperature data loggers with the ability to record temperature in water, food or other liquids. Designed for rugged applications, Nautilus loggers are available in stainless steel or aluminum.
Nautilus loggers can hold over 500 days of data and feature data compression capability. With extremely durable and robust construction, Nautilus loggers are your choice for temperature monitoring and logging in wet environments.
Nautilus85 – Temperature logger for harsh environments to 85°C
The Nautilus85 is a durable, robust metal cased data logger that can monitor temperature in a variety of applications and is particularly well suited for the food and beverage, biomedical, pharmaceutical industries.
The Nautilus Series consists of full-featured, single-channel temperature loggers designed for “wet” environments at varying temperature ranges – from oceans, streams, and wastewater to food and other liquids. Ideal for rugged applictions, Nautilus loggers come in stainless steel or aluminum, and also offer a high temperature option (see Nautilus135 below).

Autoclaves work by allowing steam to enter, then maintaining the pressure at 103 kPa (1.03 bar,15 psi). This causes the steam to reach 121 °C, and this is maintained for at least 15 minutes. Modern autoclaves operate at higher temperature and pressures.

Pressure rating: 13,800kPa, 13.8 bar, 2000psi
Time stamping of Readings in ACR Data Loggers All ACR loggers have an accurate clock, but not a real time clock. Data is time referenced when the data is downloaded, from the time and date of the computer. The PC being used should have it’s clock set accurately (automatic via internet with Windows XP). Time references can be adjusted with the TrendReader software
Nautilus FAQ
Is the Nautilus product waterproof? To what depth and pressure has it been tested?
Can I calibrate the Nautilus data logger?
What are the Nautilus operating limits?
The operating range for the Nautilus85 is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.
The operating range for the Nautilus High Temp is 10 to 125 degrees Celsius. Note that the loggers will often withstand slightly higher temperatures than this for short periods of time, however exceeding the 125C rated limit may void the manufacturer’s warranty.
What should be done to protect the waterproof seal?
What is the battery life of the Nautilus?
Is the battery in a Nautilus data logger replaceable?
Thermochron high-temp button loggers – to 125°C
The Thermocron temperature logger is an incredibly small and easy to use device that is a fraction of the price of every other temperature logger on the market. Their small size and sturdy construction make them ideal for wet and rough conditions. Special high temperature models are available to suit hot environments like autoclaves.
For wet or high pressure environments they can be housed in the iButton Capsule (see below) for extra protection.
Thermochron loggers are available in various temperature ranges – see the Thermochron page for more models.
TCX Extreme model – DS1922T Thermochron
This temperature logger breaks the 100°C (boiling point of water) barrier and is able to log temperatures up to 125°C. If your measurements are in the 60°C to 120°C range, you will find this logger more accurate that the DS1922L.
No Probe
No need to drill a hole in your test environment for a probe, these tough little loggers will happily sit in right inside.
It is now possible to monitor what is happening inside the sterilizing unit, incubator, dishwasher and other hot environments.
The DS1922T Thermochrons are stainless steel and water resistant, but if you need to immerse them completely, we recommend purchasing waterproof capsules.
