Datataker Comparison
DT80, DT82E & DT82I, DT85 – Comparison Table
General Description of Datataker data loggers
Analog Channels
A basic concept of the dataTaker data logger is that analog inputs can be used with more than one type of sensor, without needing additional input modules.
Each “Analog Channel” can have one or more sensors, depending on the sensor requirements.
The “Analog Channel” is a group of 4 terminals that can be used in many combinations.
DT80 has five, 4 wire (4 terminal) channels,
DT82 has two, 4 wire (4 terminal) channels,
DT85 has sixteen, 4 wire (4 terminal) channels.
These allow sensors and signals based on voltage, current, resistance and frequency to be measured.
These are the fundamental signals output by most sensors.
It is not necessary to use all four terminals on each channel.
Each of these analog channels can be connected to between 1 and 3 sensors or signals, depending on the requirements of that sensor or signal type.
Refer to the user manual for detailed connection information.
FAQ on DT80, DT81 & DT85 (and G versions) (opens new tab or window, mfr site)
Part numbering:
‘E’ version is Environmental (low power, has SDI-12. No USB) (Note that the DT82E Environmental logger replaces the obsolete DT81).
‘I’ version is Industrial (RS232/422/485 and encoder input, instead of SDI-12. No USB).
‘G’ version supports vibrating wire strain gauges – Carlson, electro level & LVDT.
‘L’ versions are Low Power.
‘M’ versions have a modem built in.
