Windows 11 IoT is a special licence of Windows 11 which contains the full functionality of Windows 11 Enterprise, but leaves out consumer-oriented additions such as Xbox, Weather/News and Store. It’s designed for use in IoT and industrial applications and provides a support lifecycle of 10 years from release date. The operating system provides important security updates but not Windows feature updates. This keeps the platform stable and reliable for unattended or mission critical applications by preventing update issues that can break remote or unattended systems. The operating system can also be customised to remove unwanted modules or further lock it down to meet specific application needs.
