PowerZook and IntelliAmp clip-on sensors are transforming current monitoring for servers and data centres which need to stay powered on 24/7. These sensors can measure the current flowing within multi-core power cables, without the need for disruptive powering down and powering up of equipment to allow for installation of monitoring devices.
Traditional current clamps clip over a cable and measure electrical current. These typically don’t work with regular appliance power cables or server rack power cables. This is because the one cable has multiple wires inside it, carrying current flowing in both directions, which cancels out the magnetic field which the sensor would rely on.
With PowerZook and IntelliAmp clip-on current sensors, you can start measuring and improving power consumption in your servers and racks without having to shut them down at all.
PowerZook is a standalone sensor which provides energy usage data to your SNMP-compatible NMS via the network. It’s powered via any PoE switch, and after a brief calibration process, will provide power usage information to your NMS.
IntelliAmp works in conjunction with Jacarta’s iMeter monitoring device to provide power usage information. The iMeter is also compatible with environmental monitoring sensors, allowing users to combine power usage and environmental data for analysis purposes.
